Crystal Healing

“Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you -
all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are.”
~ Rachel Naomi Remen ~

Please note that in writing this page I have used the term ‘crystal’ throughout. This term is used in the general sense referring to ‘crystals’ which are a naturally occuring solid substance whose atoms, molecules, or ions are arranged in an orderly repeating pattern AND ‘stones’ which are hard, solid, nonmetallic mineral matter.

Healing with Crystals and Stones

Crystal Healing is a therapy that uses crystals and stones and is used for those pursuing self-transformation, healing and relaxation. Crystals have an amazing influence on the subtle energies of the body including auras, chakras, meridians and spiritual energies. Crystals can be placed on any area that needs healing, but are mainly placed on specific areas of the body called ‘chakras’ (a Sanskrit word meaning spiritual energy). Chakras are the major centers of spiritual power in the human body and are circles of energy which balance, store, and distribute the energies of life all through our physical and subtle bodies. The subtle body is the non-physical body or is otherwise known as our soul or spirit, which overlays our physical body. At Loving Heart Reiki, LLC, crystals can be used on their own in a session or can be used in conjunction with a Reiki session.

The first chakra is known as the Kundalini or Root chakra and it is situated at the tail end of the spine. It is associated with the color red and is the foundation of the physical body. It stimulates vital forces throughout our body and assists in keeping us grounded to the earth. It influences our immune system, our energy, basic impulses, instincts, endurance and fight or flight reactions. It deals with the body’s survival including food, shelter and protection. The root chakra is relevant to achievements in the material world, permanence, strength of character, patience, endurance, and safety.

The second chakra is known as the Sacral chakra and is located in the lower abdomen, behind and approximately two inches below the belly button. It is associated with the color orange and is the source of creativity and inspiration and is the foundation of the emotional body. It influences our ability to feel emotions, sensations and atmospheres and controls our ability to let go of our emotions. It influences our sexuality and sensuality, physical force, sexual and ardent love, open-mindedness, and our ability to yield and cooperate amicably with other people. This chakra influences the spleen, liver, bladder, kidneys, and sexual organs.

The third chakra is known as the Solar Plexus chakra and is located at the base of the rib cage. It is associated with the color yellow and is the foundation of the mental body which enables us to pick up vibrations and essences from people, places and things. It also involves personal power, energy, self-control, emotional issues and issues of self-acceptance. This chakra influences muscles, the stomach, digestion, the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, metabolism, and the nervous system.

The fourth chakra is known as the Heart chakra and is located in the centre of the chest in the area of the heart. It is associated with the color green and is the place where all of the other six chakras converge bringing our personal energy (the lower three chakras) into alignment with ourselves and the collective consciousness of higher guidance (the upper three chakras). It is the foundation of the astral body and the connection between our physical and spiritual bodies. It is driven by love and influences forgiveness, compassion, empathy, trust, equilibrium, and ease with our life. It helps us to get in touch with nature and connects us to the plant world. This chakra influences the lungs, thymus, circulation, the endocrine and immune systems.

The fifth chakra is known as the Throat chakra and is located at the base of the neck in the throat. It is associated with the color blue and influences communication, dreaming, artistic expression, good judgment, self-belief, wisdom, truthfulness, out of body experiences and clairaudience. It influences the mouth, teeth, throat, thyroid gland, and the immune system.

The sixth chakra is known as the Third Eye or Ajna and is located in the middle of the forehead between the brows. It is associated with the color indigo and influences our capacity to see things that are yet to come into being or clairvoyance. It is the foundation of our psychic powers where we are able to link into our intuition and imagination, and to visualize, concentrate, have insight, enlightenment, and a finely tuned awareness. It also defines fantasy and reality. It influences the eyes, vision, nose, central nervous system, brain, and pituitary gland.

The seventh chakra is known as the Crown chakra and is located on the top of the head. It is associated with the colors violet or white and is the foundation of our spiritual body which links us to the highest guidance, creation. It influences spiritual will, inspiration, idealism, and celestial knowledge; it is our connection with the universe. This chakra influences the cerebral cortex, cerebrum, central nervous system, glands and the pineal gland, pituitary gland and hormones related to them.

Crystals have a long tradition of being used for healing. In modern day practices, there are two ways that a practitioner may work with crystals. The first method is called the ‘Spiritual Healing Paradigm’. In this method, crystals, especially clear quartz, are used to channel, direct and amplify energy from the practitioner, or from the spiritual realms with which the practitioner works. Healing energy is mentally directed through the crystal, which amplifies and clarifies the healing potential. In this method the practitioner holds the crystal in her hand while directing healing energy through her palm chakra, through the crystal into the body of the client for healing and balancing.

The second method of Crystal Healing is called the ‘Resonance Placement Paradigm’. This method relies on the power of the crystals themselves along with the healing intuition of the practitioner. Many different crystals may be used, each one chosen for a particular beneficial effect on the client. Placed on or around the body the color, shape and composition of the crystal creates a resonance that encourages healing to take place as the practitioner directs healing energy into the body of the client.

A practitioner may place the same color crystal as the color of the chakra on the client to enhance the flow of energy. It is believed that the crystal will direct the flow of energy to a person in a particular part of the body and bring balance to that person’s chakra. Ultimately, crystals are used to cleanse the person from unwanted or trapped energy believed to be the cause of illness, and by clearing out this energy it is believed to alleviate the physical ailment.

Crystals are used for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. When healing energy is focused through a crystal, it is sent into the body of the client and distributed to the areas most in need of energy balancing. There is an almost innate intelligence to this focused energy as it always flows to the body regions where it is most needed.

The subtle body (an energy field that has a structure which influences and gives life to the physical body) is designed to keep you in balance. When your subtle body is balanced, energies flow freely without restriction along channels called meridians. Feelings of joy, happiness, love, compassion, and well-being will flow freely too. When the subtle body is disturbed through fear or other negative mental states, energy becomes restricted causing depression, anxiety, and unhappiness. To revive these energies and well-being, the subtle body needs to be restored and balanced. By working with the healing and balancing energies of crystals, the subtle body is influenced and our minds and any blockages become more relaxed and clearer returning us to peace and happiness.

Crystal Grid for Emotional Healing

The beauty of crystals makes them a natural choice for healing both of the body and in one’s home. Their uniqueness imbues them with magical power; the power to protect, to enhance, to strengthen, and to uplift. They have been used as amulets to ward off harm, as talismans to encourage virtues, as magical guardians to heal, and as tools to interpret messages from the spirit world. The attraction they hold transcends place and time.

What you will experience in a Crystal Healing session will bring relaxation, healing and balancing to the subtle energy systems of the body. Our lives are influenced by many different energies that we cannot see, and yet they profoundly affect our state of mind and our health. Using crystals has been shown to balance, heal, soothe and energize and enable us to harness the vital energies of nature to create balance and well-being of body, mind, and spirit. After a few days as the subtle energies of your body are recharged, you might feel more energetic and your head will be clearer.

Crystal Healing Grid for Oliver

There are four classes of illness in the Buddhist tradition. The first is inconsequential; one will recover from them regardless of whether or not medical care is sought (cuts, bruises, colds); the second are illnesses that are dangerous but can be cured by medical intervention (chemotherapy, surgery, acupuncture); the third are illnesses that one cannot recover from simply with medical intervention and are spiritual in nature (addiction, depression); and the fourth is nonrecoverable, nonreversible illness where death is inevitable, regardless of medical intervention. It is not enough to simply be free from illness. It is also about listening to our feelings, emotions and thoughts, and nurturing our spiritual lives.
